Water Scarcity in Africa

1 in 3 people are affected by water scarcity around Africa. Population growth and changes in the climate have only worsened the situation in recent years.

Boreholes in Malawi

From droughts to water shortages as a result of climate change and a spread of cholera, around 5.7 million people in the country don’t have clean water.

The lack of clean water results in premature deaths and the spread of disease, which is why we’re on the ground installing boreholes across remote villages.

Through providing clean water, we are also helping improve hygiene and sanitation around the country.

Boreholes in Afghanistan

Half of Afghanistan’s population is suffering from chronic poverty, in what has been dubbed one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Many remote villages have been totally cut off from all vital services, and have been forced to resort to boiling the surface water of sewage for their consumption.

We’re installing water wells and boreholes for people, so they have access to clean and safe water. The project helps empower locals and is keeping them protected from the spread of disease.

How clean water supports the girl child

Most young girls around the world will wake up in the morning, have breakfast and get ready for school. But in many parts of Africa, a girl will wake up, and immediately start on a long journey of walking far in search of water.

How clean water stops the spread of disease

In Malawi, our team here at Impact observes women trek up to the top of a steep hill in a remote village and crouch down next to an unprotected water source, which closely resembles a pond of muddy water.

Why Impact is prioritising education for all

Around the world, education plays a significant role in the development of young people, but above this, in many countries, it is alternative to what would otherwise be the inevitable fate of child marriage or hard labour.
