Despite being a basic human right, over 4.5 billion people around the world don’t have access to safely managed sanitation. Without access to clean drinking water and proper sanitation, disease spreads easily, having a fatal result on communities.
Impact operates around the world, particularly in some of the worst affected countries around Africa and the Middle East, where children are sometimes forced to miss out on education and instead walk for miles to source clean water. We are determined to continue working hard in ensuring that sustainable solutions are implemented, so that no child is forced to choose between their education and clean water.
Currently, over nine million girls in Sub-Saharan Africa are not in school as a result of a lack of clean water and sanitation facilities. In conflict areas, young children have also lost clean access to drinking water, causing a surge in waterborne diseases.
In Syria, over 900 cases of cholera were recorded in 2022, while over one million Rohingya children have fled from violence in Myanmar, leaving many children with no access to clean water.
Often times, it’s the already vulnerable communities that face the highest risk of being left without access to safe drinking water.
While many solutions are short term quick-fixes, we believe in sustainability, and giving locals ownership of the projects we implement. We consult local partners, and consider cultural sensitives.
As well as educating people and creating lasting infrastructures, Impact ensures that we have teams on the ground regularly checking on projects such as boreholes and wells, ensuring that they are still functioning and serving the community.
Impact has a global reach. We are a humanitarian and development charity which operates around the world.
