After being pummeled with numerous crises and a weakening economy, Lebanon has been hit hard in recent years. Many of those suffering the most are displaced communities living in the country’s refugee camps, who have little to no access to vital resources.
Due to their refugee status, many of those living in the camps are unable to secure proper jobs and earn a stable income, making access to food difficult. With prices of basic foods also soaring, many go hungry.
Impact has been on the ground distributing food parcels that contain a range of nutritious ingredients for families. Our food parcels include cooking oil, beans, lentils, rice, canned fish, pasta, sugar, salt and canned foods alongside containers of water.
The food parcels are particularly important for refugee camps that are difficult to reach, and have not been visited by NGOs for months because of difficulty in obtaining permits. During our food distribution, our teams on the ground visit families in refugee camps and conduct needs assessments, to ensure that donations go towards essential items.
The winter months are some of the most difficult for refugees in Lebanon, as temperatures drop dramatically, leaving them with no defense against the treacherous conditions.
Several of the refugee camps visited by Impact were home to a large number of orphans who have been neglected by their parents because of difficulty in providing for their children. Through our food distribution campaign, we are helping support families, and orphan children, during times of need.
Impact has a global reach. We are a humanitarian and development charity which operates around the world.
