Impact in Malawi

Malawi borehole project

Thousands of people living in rural areas of Malawi have no access to clean and safe drinking water.

For many, their day centres around their long trek to a far away puddle of water, where they fill their buckets and take it back home to use for everything, from drinking to cleaning and washing. Often, this water is filled with mud and is unsafe.

Children miss out on school, and adults are unable to dedicate their time to work because of the hours spent looking for water.

In an effort to break the cycle, Impact has been on the ground installing boreholes in remote villages. Boreholes are a sustainable and long term solution catering to the water needs in the country, and allow women and children to be empowered and return back to school and work.

More importantly, by providing clean and safe water, Impact has been able to lessen the risk of the rapid spread of disease in many countries.

Many villages have been stricken with a severe outbreak of cholera, and every year children die as a result of diarrhea and other diseases caused by a lack of clean water.

Every time Impact has installed a borehole, communities erupt with joy and jubilation, celebrating the occasion by singing and dancing.

Impact has a global reach. We are a humanitarian and development charity which operates around the world.
