Afghanistan is currently in a state of emergency. As one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, women and children are some of those suffering the most.
According to the World Food Programme, over 19 million people in the country do not have sufficient access to food.
As the country is on the brink of economic collapse, people have almost no access to food. Many of the families our teams on the ground spoke to said they will often wait for their neighbors to finish eating, to see if they have any left-overs. Mothers explained that they are afraid to go to sleep at night, as they don’t know if their children will survive the night.
In an effort to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in the country, AMA has launched a bread distribution campaign. The campaign is designed to reach people living in villages which are largely cut off from town centers, and during the winter months are totally isolated due to their location in the mountains and the snow making access difficult.
Bread is essential for survival for people in Afghanistan, and is one of the most basic food needs. Our local teams on the ground are ensuring that people in stranded villages are able to get this basic form of sustenance.
Impact has a global reach. We are a humanitarian and development charity which operates around the world.
